Ubisoft Quartz Beta Announcement Video Unlisted On YouTube, As Community Backlash Intensifies

Ubisoft Quartz beta announcement receives massive backlash as community points out the many issues that arise with the leveraging of NFT technology.

Ubisoft had, via a video from its official YouTube channel, posted a video, announcing the beta version of Ubisoft Quartz. This would be marking the video game developer’s entry into the NFT gaming market. The video promised several items in game as well as other benefits that would come from the using of the NFT technology.

However, soon after the video was released, the reaction of the community towards Ubisoft Quartz has been decidedly, overwhelmingly negative. Many have taken to the comments section of the video, to express their views and pointed out many issues that will arise from leveraging the NFT technology.

As at the time of writing this, Ubisoft has unlisted the announcement video on YouTube. This means that while the video still exists on the video sharing platform, it will not be appearing on the searches or even on Ubisoft North America’s YouTube channel. However, if you have the link for the video, you will still be able to watch it. That Ubisoft has unlisted the video was first reported by Dot Esports.

The video has, so far, at the time of writing this, been viewed 171,223 times and has only a meagre 1,100 likes. While the number of dislikes remain hidden, it only takes simple math to deduce that a vast majority of the community have reacted negatively to his move. While the video has been unlisted, there still remains a large number of re-uploads and re-shares that already exist on the Internet, both on YouTube and otherwise.

The Ubisoft Quartz beta program will be kicking off at 12:00 PM CT, on December 9, 2021, in select countries. These countries include, Canada, the USA, Australia, Germany, Spain, Brazil, France, Belgium and Italy. It will be kicking off with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint for PC.
