PlayStation Executive Sends Congratulatory Gift, On Halo Infinite Launch Night, To The Xbox Team

PlayStation’s Shuhei Yoshida sent over a congratulatory gift to Aaron Greenberg, from the Xbox team on the night of the launch of Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite finally launched, after much wait and anticipation, on Wednesday. And there indeed was much reason to celebrate! And the team at Microsoft weren’t the only ones that were celebrating the night of the game’s launch.

Aaron Greenberg, the General Manager of marketing at Xbox, took to Twitter (tweet embedded above) to thank PlayStation executive, Shuhei Yoshida, for his congratulatory gift. It was perhaps just happenstance that both Yoshida and Greenberg were both at the same restaurant that night.

However, it was a wonderful gesture on Yoshida’s part, sending the gift over to them, and it was equally wonderful of Greenberg taking to the social media platform to acknowledge Yoshida’s gesture.

Thank you, friend, games soon? 💚 💙

Sony’s PlayStation and Microsoft’s Xbox are probably the fiercest competitors of each other. And apart from official communications on social media, such as PlayStation taking to Twitter to congratulate on the twentieth anniversary of the Xbox, there are hardly such exchanges, and even if they are, its rarely acknowledged on social media.

This bottle of wine, sent over to Greenberg’s table, with a short but friendly note, is in no way an official congratulations from PlayStation. It can, at most, be thought of as a professional gift from one executive to another, working in the same industry.

Yoshida is a veteran in the gaming industry, and must have certainly known about the Halo Infinite launch date. And it is likely that he must have assumed that Greenberg and his team must have been there to celebrate the successful launch of the game.

And as such, Yoshida’s gift carried no direct message that tied it to the successful launch of Halo Infinite. It was implied. Gestures such as these, however, are very rare but with the rise of the social media, these are becoming more heard of now, than it was, ten years back.

It will be unsurprising if Greenberg, in the near future, returned Yoshida’s gesture. It is a small gesture, such as this, that often create a ripple effect. And this, we can hope for, in a more positive direction.

Halo Infinite developed by 343 Industries and published by Xbox Game Studios launched for PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, on December 8, 2021.
