Come January 2022, PUBG Will Be Going Free To Play
Krafton announced at The Game Awards 2021, that PUBG will be going free to play, come January 12, 2022.
The night of The Game Awards 2021 saw some big announcements happening. One amongst those was Krafton announcing that starting January 12, 2021, Playerunknown’s Battleground, better known as PUBG, will be going free to play.

The announcement (tweet embedded above) mentioned that after five long years, eight different maps and more than fourteen billion hours played worldwide, Krafton’s battle royale title, PUBG, is all set and ready to enter the next era, i.e., transitioning towards a free to play model.
It does not come as any big surprise that PUBG is making the move towards a free to play model. And this can be seen as a natural transition for the title, taken into consideration the fact that other titles in the battle royale genre, such as Fortnite, Apex Legends, Call of Duty®: Warzone and others are already available for free.

While PUBG goes free to play in approximately five weeks’ time, interested players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation and Google Stadia can pre-register at pre-reg.pubg.com. Players can also invite their friends to pre-register via the link, as well.
Players will, as a reward for linking their existing or even new Krafton account IDs with their gaming platform accounts, be eligible for receiving a Special Care Package, after January 12, 2021. This package will include, a Level 1 Highside Slick Backpack, a Highside Slick Top and two Preset Slot Coupons.
For those who will bring in more than three friends to complete the entire pre-registration process, all parties involved will be eligible for receiving a Level 1 Highside Slick Helmet item as well as Iron G-Coin Box item.
In addition to that, everyone who has claimed all the above mentioned rewards, within 6:59 PM ET, January 31, 2021, will have a chance to win one of the following bonus rewards from Krafton:
