Valve shares a preview of the Steam Deck’s package design prototype.
We had learnt earlier, in November that the launch date of the Steam Deck had been pushed back to February, 2022. However, since then, Valve has held a Developers’ Event, to familiarize both developers as well as players with its upcoming handheld gaming PC.
Valve has now revealed a preview of what will be the handheld PC’s final package design. As per the photos revealed by Valve on Twitter, each Steam Deck will be coming with a carrying case.

In addition to that, every device will also be coming with its own USB C power supply adapter. This implies that one would not have to hunt for an adapter, as is the case with many smartphones. Moreover, the box also has quite a few Easter Eggs, as well. We found a few, let us know how many were you able to find out.
According to Valve, “We’ve recently completed our DV (Design Validation) manufacturing build of Steam Deck, and we’ll be using these units for additional testing and developer kits”. The company further states that, “After this build, there will be additional minor changes in the final product”. Additionally, they stated, “before we start sending these out to developers, we wanted to give you a sneak peek of the final packaging that customers will see in February”.
Valve Had Earlier Announced That The Steam Deck Would Start Shipping From February, 2022
In November, 2021, Valve had, in a blog post, cited the global supply chain issues and material shortages, missing parts and logistical challenges being the reason behind why the company had decided on pushing the initial release date to February, 2022. The company had then held a Developers’ Event to provide more insight into its latest handheld gaming PC.
